Hi folks,

Citizenscience.org is working to support the growing field of public participation in scientific research.  Two needs we've heard:  opportunities to meet, and job postings.

Mark your calendars!  August 2012, in Portland Oregon, join researchers, educators, and project leaders for the first large-scale, open conference on citizen science.  Details will be posted, as available, on the Conferences page. Want to meet sooner?  The University of Maine, Orono is holding a Citizen Science Symposium May 12th and 13th of this year (call for abstracts open until February 15th). Have a conference of your own that you'd like to share on citizenscience.orgEmail us!

We have also just added a Job Postings page to citizenscience.org. If you're hiring someone to do work related to citizen science, volunteer monitoring, or amateur research collaborations, email us and we can post the job announcement.  Seeking a job in this field?  See current announcements for an Education Coordinator with the USA National Phenology Network and a Macro Ecologist Postdoc at the Cornell Lab of Ornithology.

As always, let us know if there are particular ideas or resources you would like to see, or, even better, to share!  Drop us a line at cscentral@cornell.edu.

Cheers,

Jennifer and the citizenscience.org team
