Earth Day in the Yukon
This year is the 40th anniversary of Earth Day (April 22) and we want to celebrate it in a big way! Yukon Environmental Network is challenging Yukon businesses and organizations to celebrate Earth Day by participating in The Earth Day 2010 Corporate Challenge.
The challenge is simple. Yukon Environmental Network is challenging you to celebrate Earth Day in a meaningful way. Examples: "For one day...Earth Day, April 22, 2% of our profit will be donated to a conservation organization." "On Earth Day 2010 our business will become Chemical Free." Yukoners are creative, I am sure you will come up with some original and meaningful actions that will fit your business (and the environments) means and needs!
If you like a little healthy competition, challenge another business or organization to match your action.
Running concurrently with the challenge will be a, "Did you know..?" campaign, so give us a, 'did you know' line that pertains to your business. For example: "By using secondary power, Yukon Brewing Company diverts 83 tons of greenhouse gases from affecting our atmosphere each year and avoids the burning of 25040 liters of oil"
Over the coming months a media campaign will highlight the participating organizations and their contributions, actions or events and the winner will be announced on April 22, Earth Day by the Yukon Environmental Network and spotlighted in the media.
