PlantWatch Teachers Guide

The PlantWatch Teacher's Guide is now available to download at: www.plantwatch.ca by clicking on "Educator Resources."

Curriculum links have been identified for every province and territory across Canada for grades six to eight. The Guide is divided into "Key Activity" sections detailing how to PlantWatch, and "Connections" which describe a range of math, science and social science activities that can be done in conjunction with PlantWatch to promote an interdisciplinary approach to learning.

The PlantWatch program enables "citizen scientists" to get involved by recording flowering times for selected plant species and reporting these dates to researchers through the Internet or by mail. When you submit your data electronically, it's added instantly to Web maps showing bloom dates across Canada, so your observations make a difference right away!

A joint venture between the Nature Canada and Environment Canada, our goal is to encourage Canadians of all ages to get involved in helping scientists discover how, and more importantly why, our natural environment is changing.
