British Columbia, like the Yukon is in a process of making schools more environmentally sustainable. On Monday February 9, the Sustainable Schools Forum will involve education officials from all over BC, and some Yukon folks.

The forum aims to inspire education leaders to create a culture of environmental sustainability in all aspects of the K-12 education system. Sustainability issues from both the operational and educational perspectives will be addressed at the forum.
- Date: February 9th, 2009
- Audience: Superintendents, Secretary Treasurers, and district leaders from the education and operations side are invited to attend. Districts are also encouraged to invite school level leaders interested in sustainability issues.
- Location: The forum will be webcast from Byrne Creek Secondary in Burnaby and districts in the Vancouver area will be invited to attend at that location. In addition, regional sites will be located at the following locations: Abbotsford, Courtenay, Cranbrook, Fort St. John, Kelowna, Nelson, Quesnel, Smithers, Victoria.
- Forum Goals:
- Participants will learn about greenhouse gas reduction and sustainability initiatives happening in other districts.
- Districts will continue developing sustainability plans that address both operational and educational perspectives of sustainability in their district.
- Forum Format: Webcasting logistics and technology will be used at locations around the province to make this a low carbon footprint event.
