Each activity is designed to maximize student participation, learning, and enjoyment while minimizing cost. Strategies promote interactive teaching and students' investigational and thinking skills. The International Children’s Painting Competition on the Environment is organized annually by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and others. This year’s competition focuses on climate change - actions we can take now to reduce our negative impact. The children’s (ages 5-13) paintings can focus on concrete actions such as using renewable energy, introducing energy saving light bulbs at home, sharing vehicles and using public transport, planting trees, and more. http://www.unep.org/Tunza/paintcomp/ Application deadline: January 28, 2009- ExploraVision Contest Canadians Eligible The Toshiba/NSTA ExploraVision Awards challenge students to use their imaginations and the tools of science to propose scientifically feasible technologies that could exist 20 years into the future.
