Grant available for IPY Arctic Expedition, August 07

The Canadian Space Agency is providing five $5,000 grants to deserving Canadian high school students that have demonstrated a keen interest in space to go towards participating on the IPY Arctic Youth Expedition this August 2 to August 17, 2007.

Selected youth will travel with 75 international students, between the ages of 14-18 as they travel through the Canadian Arctic aboard a polar icebreaker on this endorsed International Polar Year Youth expedition. With hands-on activities and a focus on Earth Science, Climate Change and Space, this expedition will give a fresh, polar perspective on our planet and the stars. Those selected will be responsible for raising the remaining $2,500 of the participation costs, since the total cost per student is $7,500 which includes all costs from Ottawa. Interested students should contact Students On Ice for a CSA grant application and/or more information at Toll free: 866-336-6423, Tel: 819-827-3300 or visit our website www.studentsonice.com.
