Starbucks Giving Voice Grants Proposals submission period: August 1 - September 1, 2006 This Starbucks grant program is for youth that integrate literacy with personal and civic action in the communities where they live. Each week, Nature Stories will offer a new tale of people's connections with the natural world as an audio download. Many of the stories will be drawn from an upcoming public radio series, Stories from the Heart of the Land, which the Conservancy is developing for launch in 2007. The website is divided into three sections: Experiments, Issues, and Teaching. All of the materials include background information on the topic addressed, instructions for students, and notes to faculty. This year¹s contest challenges young artists in grades 2-4 to explore the Earths polar regions. The website offers contest guidelines, as well as information on how the contest supports national science and geography education standards, links to lesson plans, websites, books, and fun facts about the Arctic and Antarctic.
