WILD Education partners Ocean's Day - June 8

Dear Oceans Day Enthusiast,

Oceans Day is fast approaching on June 8th, we hope that we can count on you to join in the celebrations. In Ottawa, the Canadian Wildlife Federation is holding the first annual Ottawa Oceans Fest with a line-up of exciting speakers at the Canadian Museum of Nature, educational events and a community rally at a local beach.

This year’s slogan: Watersheds…your link to Canada’s oceans…explore the connection!, celebrates the wonder of our many unique Canadian watersheds and our special connections to them. To raise awareness about our oceans, CWF distributes Oceans Day educational kits to Canadian schools. This year’s educational kit features a stunning poster of sockeye salmon making their incredible upstream journey in Adams River, British Columbia. The kit also includes our long-awaited Watershed Map and an illustrated watershed poster from a marine perspective. The kit is just chock-full of oceans day activities, perfect even if you live thousands of kilometers from the nearest ocean.

Many community events are taking place across the country and we invite you to organize similar events in your community, neighbourhood or workplace. If you are planning an event, the kits and/or posters are available to you along with prizes that you may wish to use as gifts. Please find the response form attached and return it by e-mail, fax, or mail no later than May 31st. An online form is also available, simply visit http://www.cwf-fcf.org/ and click on Oceans Day.

We hope that you will join us this year in helping spread the Oceans Day message. Thank you again for your support in the past and we hope we can count on you to help make Oceans Day 2006 another huge success, especially for all the wildlife whose very survival depends on the health of our oceans.
